Why we start with the problem, not the machine
Being sold a laser is not the same as being diagnosed. A machine is a tool, and the same tool can be right for one person and wrong for another with the same complaint.
- The same redness can be barrier damage, rosacea, or a reaction to a product.
- The same dark marks can be pigment, or shadow from lost volume.
- The same acne can be hormonal, fungal, or a response to over-treatment.
- Treating those identically is why people arrive here having spent money and got worse.
So each of these pages starts with what is actually causing your problem, and only then gets to what we would use.
The order we work in, every time
We follow the same clinical sequence regardless of what you came in for. Skipping ahead is what causes setbacks.
- Barrier first. Can your skin tolerate treatment at all?
- Inflammation next. What is driving the flare?
- Then structure, where support has been lost.
- Then texture and pigment, last, and only when the skin is ready.
If the first two are not sorted, the last two either do not work or make things worse. That is the single most common reason previous treatment failed.
What your first appointment looks like
Every concern starts the same way, with a diagnostic consultation rather than a treatment.
- A full history: what you have tried, what reacted, and what changed.
- Imaging under several light modes, which separates redness, pigment and congestion.
- Measurement of hydration and how much water your skin is losing.
- Your results explained on screen, there and then.
- A written plan with the order of treatment and what to do at home.
If the scan says your skin is not ready, we will tell you and stabilise it first. That is not us delaying treatment. It is the difference between a course that works and one that sets you back.

Book a diagnostic consultation and we will work it out. You do not need to self-diagnose first. Plenty of people arrive certain they have one thing and the imaging shows another, which is exactly what the appointment is for.
Very commonly, yes. Acne with sensitivity, or pigment with barrier damage, are everyday combinations. That is why the order matters. We treat them in sequence rather than all at once.
For any laser, peel or course of treatment, yes. It is how we decide whether your skin is ready and what order to work in, and it protects you from paying for a course that was never going to suit you.
Yes, and we do. Sometimes the honest answer is that you need your GP, a dermatology referral, or your own dentist first. We would rather say that than sell you something that will not work.
