The Harmony Skin Method: skin scan and analysis
Every treatment plan here starts with a scan. Imaging shows us what is happening below the surface: how inflamed your skin is, how well its barrier is holding water, and how deep your pigment sits. That decides what we treat, in what order, and whether your skin is ready at all.
What it treats

Why we scan before we treat
Most disappointing skin treatment is not a bad treatment. It is the right treatment given at the wrong time, or aimed at the wrong cause.
- It finds the cause rather than the symptom, so the plan targets what is driving it.
- It tells us whether your skin can currently tolerate active treatment at all.
- It stops you spending money on a course that was never going to work.
- It gives us a baseline, so we can prove whether the plan is working.
Think of it the way you would a leak. You find where the water is coming from before you start replacing ceilings.
What the scan shows
We use imaging that looks at your skin under different light, which reveals things that are invisible in a mirror or a photograph.
- Observ imaging, which uses several light modes to separate redness, pigment and congestion from each other.
- Three dimensional imaging, which measures volume, proportion and how your face is changing over time.
- Skin measurement of hydration, oil flow and how much water your skin is losing.
- Photographs taken in the same conditions each time, so comparisons are honest.
Our team has particular experience using this imaging to identify rosacea in deeper skin tones, where it is commonly mistaken for acne and treated as acne for years.
Redness and water loss decide the plan
Two measurements matter more than the rest, because they tell us whether to start and how hard to push.
- Redness usually means inflammation. Treating on top of active inflammation tends to make things worse, not faster.
- Water loss through the skin tells us how well your barrier is working. A weak barrier means more sensitivity and a higher chance of reacting.
- Together they tell us how your skin is likely to respond, so we can set the intensity and spacing sensibly.
- They also shape what we ask you to use at home between appointments.
If both readings say your skin is not ready, we will say so and stabilise it first. That is not us delaying treatment. It is the difference between a course that works and one that sets you back.
What happens at your appointment
It is a consultation, not just a photograph. You leave understanding your own skin.
- A full history: what you have tried, what reacted, and what changed.
- Several images taken under different light modes.
- Measurement of redness, hydration and barrier function.
- Your results explained to you on screen, there and then.
- A written plan with the order of treatment and what to do at home.
We repeat the scan at review, so progress is measured rather than remembered. Small improvements are genuinely difficult to see in the mirror day to day.

Questions, answered
It separates things that look identical to the eye. Redness, pigment and congestion all read as "my skin looks bad" in a mirror, but they need different treatment. The imaging uses several light modes to tell them apart, and measures how much water your skin is losing, which is a direct read on barrier strength.
For any laser, peel or course of treatment, yes. It is how we decide whether your skin is ready and what order to work in. It also protects you from paying for a course that was never going to suit your skin.
Yes, on screen at the same appointment. You will see your own images and have them talked through. You leave with a written plan. We will even check whether your sun protection is going on properly.
About 30 minutes for the scan and consultation together. Nothing touches your skin other than being positioned in front of the camera. There is no discomfort and no downtime.
Yes, at review. Images are taken in the same conditions each time so the comparison is honest. This is how we show whether a plan is working, rather than relying on how you remember your skin looking two months ago.
Then we tell you, and we stabilise your barrier and settle inflammation first. It is the most common finding in people whose previous treatment went badly. Starting actives on inflamed skin is what causes most of the setbacks we see.
